Exploring Turkey's Coastal Gems: The Charm of Kaş and the Stunning Kaputaş Beach

In Kaş, there are many delightful attractions that make it worth visiting this part of the Turkish coast, located between Dalaman Airport and the resort town of Antalya. Just across from Kaş is Kastellorizo, a Greek island situated only 3 kilometers away. Although it’s 70 miles from Rhodes, it remains a Greek territory. The movie “Mediterranean” by Salvatores was filmed here.

Kaş itself is rich in history, originally founded by the Lycian people. Since the 1990s, its stunning sea, charming beaches, and historic sites have captivated tourists, especially from England and Germany. This influx led to uneven urban development, which has somewhat marred the area’s natural beauty. However, the warm and sunny climate, similar to Tunisia’s, still draws many visitors.

Some notable historic sites include the Antiphellos amphitheater and the ruins of villages like Komba, Nisa, Kandyba, Phellos, Istlada, Apollonia, and Isinda Kyaenai. Within the city, you can find unique grave stones placed high on columns. Many of these tombs are located near carpet shops or at the entrance of white courtyards, which often conceal cozy restaurants set within lush gardens.

For sea lovers, Kaputas Beach is a must-visit. It boasts unspoiled nature with trees that stretch down to the sea, nestled at the bottom of a narrow valley surrounded by high cliffs.
