Coqueirinho Beach, known as Praia de Coqueirinho, is located just outside of João Pessoa, the capital of the Brazilian state of Paraíba, in the northeast region of Brazil. While it’s a considerable distance from Rio de Janeiro, it’s closer to Fortaleza. Recently, João Pessoa has seen a rise in tourism thanks to its unique blend of old Portuguese colonial architecture, modern architectural innovations, tropical climate, and stunning, relatively undiscovered beaches. Being one of the oldest cities in the Americas, founded in 1585, it boasts many historic buildings and theaters with a visibly ancient look.

The city is particularly known for two distinctive features. Firstly, it is dubbed “the city where the sun rises first” because it is located at the easternmost point in the Americas. Secondly, João Pessoa ranks as the second greenest city in the world, possessing approximately seven square kilometers of forested land, just behind Paris, which holds the top spot.

Among João Pessoa’s many beaches, Praia de Coqueirinho stands out as one of the most beautiful and popular. The beach is influenced by strong tidal currents, but during low tide, it creates natural pools that children particularly enjoy. Coqueirinho Beach can be divided into two sections: the left side, which is more frequented by families and tourists seeking beachside bars and restaurants, and the right side, which offers a more secluded and tranquil experience, but still features excellent seafood options.
