Captivating Island Getaways: Nusa Lembongan South-East of Bali, Indonesia

Nusa Lembongan, the most famous island in the Pulau Penida archipelago, is about 3 to 4 kilometers long. It features beautiful white sandy beaches, mangroves, and a stunning coral reef, making it a perfect spot for snorkeling. Surfers also flock to Nusa Lembongan for its excellent waves.
The island has a population of around 5,000 people, mostly tourists. You can reach Nusa Lembongan by boat from Sanur Beach or from Benoa Bay near Denpasar. For those with a bigger budget, helicopter rides are available.
There are plenty of accommodation options on the island, including hotels, guest houses, and private villas to suit different budgets. Many travel blogs recommend “Batu Karang Lembongan Resort and Day Spa.” While it’s not the cheapest option, it offers all the amenities you could want, including a swimming pool, restaurants, and a spa.
The island has a couple of surf schools and numerous dive centers where you can snorkel for free. There are also many paths through the palm trees and mangroves that are perfect for walking or cycling, as well as a yoga learning center.
For food and entertainment, try Ketut Warung for the best Indonesian cuisine. The Beach Club at Sandy Bay offers a great selection of beers and American-style BBQ. If you’re in the mood to dance, the Mojito House Music Party is a good place to enjoy music and drinks.
Two of the most popular beaches are Dream Beach and Sunset Beach. Dream Beach boasts fine white sand and a beach bar, though its strong currents are best suited for experienced swimmers. Sunset Beach, on the other hand, is a great place to relax and watch the waves crash at the cliffs of Devil’s Tears during sunset.
