I won\u2019t dive into the logistics of your trip, but one tip I have is to consider getting a rental car. Toulouse, located in the south of France, is an awesome city to drive around, giving you the freedom to explore even the nearby coast. If you\u2019re flying in, the easiest thing is to rent a car right at Toulouse airport.<\/p>\n
Now, let\u2019s talk about some must-see places.<\/p>\n
First up is the red-brick Basilique St-Sernin. It\u2019s one of the best-preserved Romanesque buildings in France and a former key stop on the pilgrimage route, Chemin de St-Jacques (Way of Saint James). Recently restored, it boasts a beautiful bell tower, historical altar from the 11th century, and stunning paintings. The church might seem plain from the outside, but inside, it\u2019s adorned with massive stained glass windows and 22-meter high columns, creating a light and airy space. It took nearly 200 years to build, dating back to the 13th century. Don\u2019t miss the refectory, where you can check out rotating art exhibits or the chapel\u2019s impressive 14th-century mural paintings, which are unique to the city.<\/p>\n
For something more unusual, visit the Cathedrale de St-Etienne. Its construction spanned about 500 years, leading to an interesting mix of architectural styles. Lastly, check out the church dedicated to Saint-Sernin, who is Toulouse\u2019s patron saint.
