Things to Check First

  • Before packing check if the cabin you are camping in is fully equipped with a bathroom or a simple cabin bedroom with shared facilities 
  • Make sure you are checking out how close the cabin is to the necessities. Most importantly bathroom and kitchen/ cooking facilities (if they are no in the cabin).
  • Ask, check, and recheck what is in the cabin and what you need to bring 
  • Read reviews given from recent campers and understand different experiences, for maintenance and cleanness
  • Find out if your cabin is on or OFF-GRID. It will help with a lot of cabin camping packing list decisions.
  • Find out how far it is from your vehicle to the cabin then you will not have to carry everything into the cabin. Leave the non essential in your vehicle.
  • Be sure to find out if you have a fire pit close by, and if wood can be found easily for fire. 
  • Remember abide by all the rules and to enjoy while respecting the privacy of other campers
  • Buy perishable groceries as close to the cabin as possible.
  • Go through the map and decide on the fun activities that you can do before hand – hiking, fishing, backpacking, kayaking, and swimming.
  • Bring plenty of trash bags do not leave any litter when you leave.
  • Male sure to check the weather forecast and plan accordingly
  • Keep a hardcopy of the location map with you as you cannot always trust the network coverage. 
  • Be sure to find out if you have a fire pit close by, and who is responsible for providing wood for the fire.
  • If the cabin has a kitchen find out how equipped it is; what pots, pans, and utensils are available, does it have electricity a fridge, microwave, and stove and does it include a grill.
  • Make sure to check if bedding and other linen necessities are provided
  • Also check if cleaning supplies like dish soap, brooms and other cleaning utensils are provided.
  • If you plan to bring your pet be sure the cabin is pet friendly 
  • It’s a great idea to check you have the cabin booking number, the access code, phone number, address, driving directions, and a printout of your booking confirmation with you 
  • Always remember to leave the house with a full tank of gas in the car and remember let someone know exactly where you are going and when you plan to be back. Sharing your live location with someone will definitely come in handy as you never know when you will be in danger.
