Paracas in Peru | Where Ocean Embraces Desert

In Namibia, the entire coastline is a National Park, but Peru also offers a stunning desert that meets the sea. These beautiful photographs were taken in Paracas, Peru, which features a whole desert peninsula overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This area is part of a marine reserve and is set to join the World Heritage sites protected by UNESCO. One of the peninsula’s most remarkable spots is the big red beach. This unique color comes from ancient volcanic eruptions, producing a specific type of clay. The combination of yellow, red, and blue scenery makes it a fantastic location for photography.
While the land is desert-like, the sea is teeming with life because of the high concentration of plankton. Plankton forms the base of the food chain, supporting a diverse array of marine species and making some areas incredibly rich in animal life.
